Cagayan
Located at the northeastern corner of Luzon, Cagayan is the seat of regional government in Cagayan Valley. Its capital, Tuguegarao, houses the regional government offices of Region II.
Bounded on the east by the Pacific Ocean, on the south by Isabela, on the west by the Cordillera Mountains, and on the north by the Balintang Channel, Cagayan is composed of one city, its capital, and 28 municipalities, namely: Abulug, Alcala, Allacapan, Amulung, Aparri, Baggao, Ballesteros, Buguey, Calayan, Camalaniugan, Claveria, Enrile, Gattaran, Gonzaga, Iguig, Lal-Lo, Lasam, Pamplona, Peñablanca, Piat, Rizal, Sanchez-Mira, Santa Ana, Santa Praxedes, Santa Teresita, Santo Niño (Faire), Solana and Tuao. It also includes the Babuyan Group of Islands, lying about 110 km. north of Luzon mainland.
Majority of the Cagayanos are of Ilocano descent, although the Ibanags are the known natives of the province. Gaddangs, Itawis and Malauegs also call Cagayan their home.
The main source of livelihood is agriculture, particularly farming and animal raising. The major crops of the province include rice, corn, peanut, beans, and fruits; whereas livestock products include cattle, hogs, carabaos, and poultry. The coastal towns of the province are into fishing.
