BPI Foreclosed Properties Put on CARP Offer-to-Sell Plan
The Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) placed foreclosed agricultural lands with a total land area of 475 hectares on the voluntary offer to sell scheme of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).
From a news report from Business Mirror,
The move was welcomed by Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman, saying it boosts the government’s effort to fast-track the distribution of more lands to landless farmers.
The agrarian reform chief also lauded the BPI, saying the move is “a good gesture he hopes other financial institutions and landowners will emulate.”
“We are grateful to the BPI for making this offer, which is a welcome development and a big boost to CARP. Hopefully, this will not be the last,” Pangandaman said shortly after receiving the land titles and other bank documents from BPI president Alfonso Salcedo during the simple turnover rites at his office in Quezon City.
